Sharing Our Gratitude: 2022 Thanksgiving Message

November 23, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

As Thanksgiving approaches, we find ourselves anticipating and embracing this moment of quiet reflection amidst a busy year. So much of what we are grateful for is embedded within our Penn Medicine community and is exemplified by each of you.

This year has been marked by inspiring and impactful examples of innovation, collaboration, and service as we work to achieve the best of health and well-being for individuals and communities.

The Pavilion’s first year in operation allowed us to set new standards for patient care throughout the region and beyond. Each day, our teams across all of our hospitals and our ambulatory practices perform both extraordinary miracles and simple acts of compassion that ensure our patients and their loved ones can always count on us.

We continue to put our most innovative ideas and discoveries to work for good, with 18 FDA approvals in the past three years and sponsored research funding at record levels. Our students, faculty and administrators shine in supporting and learning from one another across the educational experience as we train the next generation of care providers and scientists. Our momentum is astonishing.

Through efforts like community health workers connecting with our Penn Medicine at Home patients, and initiatives like Deeply Rooted with CHOP and Lead-Free Families in Lancaster, we never lose sight of our commitment to access and equity in every community we serve.

Our advances and growth remain possible only through your dedication to our mission, and to one another. We are thankful for you and for the strength of our Penn Medicine culture that, despite any challenges, continually fosters successes that might once have seemed unimaginable.

We hope that you will find time in our season of Thanksgiving to reflect on the sources of your own gratitude. Through taking stock, giving thanks, and giving back we will continue to build a healthier world together.

Best wishes for a safe, peaceful, and happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
