An Abundance of Thanks

A message of gratitude for Penn Medicine faculty and staff.
Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we extend our gratitude for the tireless efforts of the Penn Medicine community. Across the Perelman School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, our collective efforts are enhancing and enriching lives through every part of our mission.
Each day, Penn Medicine researchers and clinicians are exploring and charting the next frontier in science and medicine. Whether intercepting cancer, developing novel treatments for autoimmune disorders, modifying vaccines to treat new targets, or expanding the reach of gene therapies, we are developing the cures of tomorrow. And our students and trainees are poised to take the baton and make a difference for generations to come.
Throughout the health system, we see the heart of the Penn Medicine mission in action. Families often turn to our institution during difficult times and moments of need. Here, they find an integrated network of care that provides answers across the treatment spectrum, including cutting-edge clinical trials, access to leading specialists, and future-forward facilities.
Just as families can trust Penn Medicine for outstanding care, they can count on us to go above and beyond. Recently, staff organized two wedding ceremonies in a week so that hospitalized patients didn’t miss milestone events. Using kindness as a compass, another team launched a consult service centered on empathy to aid hospitalized patients with addiction along the road to recovery.
Beyond our institution’s walls, Penn Medicine faculty, staff, and students are champions for community health, spending countless hours to support efforts that clean and green parks and other public spaces, combat food insecurity, and further improve the neighborhoods we serve.
Through small acts and grand gestures, our employees excel in making the extraordinary possible. Looking forward and working together, we will continue accelerating progress in the lab, clinic, and communities. For all this and more, you have our profound thanks.
