Honoring former deans William N. Kelley, MD, and Arthur H. Rubenstein, MBBCh
November 17, 2025

Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that two research buildings on the Perelman School of Medicine campus will be rededicated in honor of former deans William N. Kelley, MD, and Arthur H. Rubenstein, MBBCh.
The Biomedical Research Building (BRB) II/III will be renamed the William and Lois Kelley Research Building.
The Clinical Research Building (CRB) will be renamed the Arthur and Denise Rubenstein Research Building.
Drs. Kelley and Rubenstein were visionary leaders who helped to lay the foundation for the ascent of Penn Medicine to the powerhouse it is today. It was during their tenures that Penn Medicine matured as one of the nation's first integrated academic health systems, bringing the institution to national renown for research, clinical care, education and unparalleled success in making breakthrough discoveries and translating them into meaningful therapies for patients around the world.
To learn more about their impact, watch the short video below and read more here.
We have also created two prizes in their honor: the William N. Kelley, MD, Biomedical Research Award and the Arthur H. Rubenstein, MBBCh, Lifetime Achievement Award. If you know of anyone who might like to contribute and/or if you would like to send a tribute or note of congratulations which my office is curating, please feel free to share this message. Thank you.
My best regards,
Jon
