Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Wang is a staff gastroenterologist within the VA Connecticut Healthcare system. She will also be an attending physician within the GI Cancer Genetics & Prevention Program at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Health.

Description of Research Expertise

Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Digestive Diseases at Yale School of Medicine and Staff Gastroenterologist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare system. Her research program is centered on early detection of pancreatic cancer. Dr. Wang’s overarching goal is to improve on tradition cancer risk prediction by integrating classic epidemiological approaches with human genetics and genomics. Her research focuses on the development and validation of large cohort populations from multiple electronic health record databases linked with biorepositories, identification of high-risk individuals for pancreatic cancer, and discovery of the genetic diversity of pancreatic cancer across multi-ancestry populations.

She is currently funded through a 5-year Veterans Affairs Career Development Award -2. Her work has been recognized with the Frank Brooks Research Award (Penn, 2022), Stanley Bradley Award for Clinical Research (Penn, 2018), and the Student Abstract of the Year (American Gastroenterological Association, 2018).

Dr. Wang completed her medical degree at Stanford School of Medicine and her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship (T32 in clinical epidemiology) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
