Neuroimaging Research Specialist
Hi, I'm Alice! I earned my undergraduate degree in neuroscience at Colorado College and completed my master’s in biomedical engineering at Carnegie Mellon. Currently, I work at Dr. John Detre’s lab at Penn Medicine and assist in the data analysis for the RECOVER project at Dr. David Fischer’s lab. I have always been curious about human consciousness and philosophy, and I enjoy contributing to work that directly benefits patients. Outside of work, I like snowboarding, surfing, and seeking the beauty of nature and challenges in those sports!

Kim V. Nguyen, PhD Website
Kim completed her Ph.D. at Temple University decoding various inputs to memory using behavioral and MRI methods (functional, structural, and diffusion) to resolve multi-factor human interactions. As a Research Scientist, she uses multimodal methods including behavioral, health records, and neuroimaging to understand trends and patterns in clinical research topics and human health. Kim enjoys taking her dog to the Wissahickon trails, traveling, and cheering on Texas Longhorn football.

My interest in neurology began while minoring in Deaf Studies at Towson University, where I started to consider the neurologic basis of hearing loss and how this impacts people's perception of the world. I then spent nearly years working on research related to retinal atrophy and imaging related to multiple sclerosis, before attending medical school at University of Maryland. Now as a neurology resident at Penn, I am interested in research to understand neuro-recovery after an array of pathologies including stroke, cardiac arrest, seizure, among others. Outside of medicine, I enjoy listening to/ playing/ watching music. I also enjoy a weekly "Survivor" watch party with my co-residents.
