Description of Research Expertise
3dc Dr. Forke’s research examines violence, trauma, and adolescent health across the life course, with a focus on how early experiences shape health behaviors, care experiences, and long-term outcomes. Her work spans teen dating violence and intimate partner violence (IPV), including risk factors, health consequences, and opportunities for prevention and early intervention in primary care and community settings, as well as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) occurring within both household and community contexts. Complementing this work, her research encompasses adolescent reproductive and sexual health, including health risk behaviors, pregnancy prevention, contraceptive use, and access to care among diverse populations. Building on her foundational work in adolescent risk behaviors, her research integrates a trauma-informed approach and emphasizes improving care delivery, patient experiences, and equitable access to high-quality care for youth and families.e 29
