Description of Clinical Expertise

I am a senior member of the Echocardiography Laboratory of the Division of Cardiology, providing clinical mentorship to junior attending physicians. During my day to day practice, I participate in all aspects of Echocardiography, including Transthoracic and Three-dimensional echocardiography, Transesophageal echocardiography and Fetal echocardiography (in the past).

Description of Other Expertise

Artificial intelligence and machine learning. Use of machine learning in prediction of morbidity and complications during inter-stage follow up of single ventricle patients.

Use of artificial intelligence in auto measurement of cardiac function (ejection fraction and longitudinal strain).

Description of Research Expertise

My research interest is in evaluation of cardiac function using new, technology, like speckle tracking imaging for evaluating cardiac strain and torsion. Presently I am using a newer concept known as principal strain, which is an integration of deformations that occur in multiple directions. Principal strain may detect changes in myofiber contraction as well as myofiber orientation produced by diseased states. We have published our extensive research experience on echocardiographic findings in COVID-19 related cardiac dysfunction in several well-known national journals of cardiology.
