Description of Clinical Expertise
Dr. Michel is a board certified pediatrician who works at an ambulatory care office in West Philadelphia. He provides primary patient care and is involved in both resident and medical student education. Recently, he has been involved in quality improvement activities for lead testing, immunizations, and obesity management. He incorporates innovative use of the EHR within his clinical care quality improvement initiatives.Description of Research Expertise
Dr. Michel serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He holds board certifications in both pediatrics and informatics, and provides general pediatric ambulatory care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He completed an NLM-sponsored fellowship in clinical informatics at Yale University, where he focused on using informatics to facilitate the translation of evidence into clinical practice, with an emphasis on the adoption of guideline recommendations.Dr. Michel has further developed his expertise as a physician programmer and has completed training in quality improvement leadership and as an Epic physician builder. He has contributed to multi-site clinical decision support (CDS) implementations and actively advocates for the development of shareable clinical decision support systems. His research and professional interests encompass a range of topics in ambulatory pediatrics, including pediatric weight management, immunizations, ADHD, health of immigrants and refugees, concussion evaluation, and lead screening and management.
