Description of Research Expertise

Dr. Shapira's primary focus is on next-generation Spectral Computed Tomography (CT) systems and applications and their clinical translation. His experience in research and development of CT systems with a focus on spectral CT was acquired while working for a major CT vendor where he advanced to the position of Physics Lead of the Innovation Segment. As part of his role, Dr. Shapira served as the focal point for all spectral Image Quality (IQ) and dose aspects and was responsible for physics-related research collaborations with academic and non-academic partners and extending the utilization and incorporation of detector-based dual-energy CT (DECT). In summer 2019, Dr. Shapira joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Research Associate of Radiology in the lab of the Director of CT Research, Peter B. Noël, Ph.D.
