Introducing New Teams
Introducing New Microsoft Teams
Between now and early April, New Teams will become the default Microsoft Teams version. This change is being made because Microsoft is retiring “Classic Teams” at the end of March, after which point it will no longer be available.
New Teams has a relatively consistent user experience compared to classic Teams, with the primary difference being improved performance and ease of switching between University and Penn Medicine accounts. Anyone looking to learn more about the new Teams can review the information provided by Microsoft (Introducing New Teams or Saying Hello to Microsoft Teams).
Microsoft is investing millions of dollars every year into making Teams and Office 365 a more robust and collaborative experience. Transitioning to New Teams is just the first step of many to help users collaborate more effectively while increasing productivity.
Until later this month, users may still opt back into Classic Teams by clicking on the three dots to the left of your picture and changing the toggle button, but doing so will not prevent Classic Teams from being removed from a device by the end of the month.
