McKay DEI Committee

Representation and Anti-Discrimination Committee

Mission Statement

The Representation and Anti-Discrimination Committee of McKay is a group of faculty, post-docs, graduate students, and staff committed to generating a welcoming environment that supports people of all identities (e.g., race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, physical ability, age, religion). The committee recognizes that members of our McKay community bring unique perspectives, strengthening the quality and innovation of the research conducted within our department and altogether making our lab environment a more enriching place to work.

Our committee continuously asks itself the following questions to support its mission:

  1. How can we create a work environment that best supports our colleagues of all identities?
  2. How do we best challenge members of our community to put in the hard work? To confront their implicit biases? To challenge the status quo?
  3. How can we build a pipeline for all students to enter orthopaedic medicine and research?
  4. How do we award those students with connections that empower them with opportunities for continual growth?
