Description of Research Expertise
I have been investigating the biochemistry and pharmacology of cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway and its role in inflammation and cardiovascular disease since I began my academic career.I have contributed to understand the human pharmacology of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID)s and how selective COX-2 inhibitors harm the cardiovascular system.
My current research interest focuses on understanding individual specific factors that influence the outcome of NSAIDs therapy using genomic, metabolomics and metagenomics approaches in model systems relevant to cardiovascular pathology.
I’m currently investigating the functional interactions between prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and PD-1 pathway in atherosclerosis and the impact of NSAID selectivity on mouse and human gut microbiome.
