Description of Research Expertise
Dr. Lowenstein’s research focuses on novel strategies for implementing evidence-based harm reduction and treatment for opioid and other substance use disorders. She is particularly interested in the use of innovative touchpoints to reduce barriers to care, including emergency departments, public libraries, and mobile outreach. Dr. Lowenstein has also conducted research on state policies related to opioid prescribing and is engaged in research and advocacy to increase uptake of opioid use disorder treatment in general medical settings.Selected Publications
