Description of Clinical Expertise

My academic and clinical practice is limited to breast cancer. I serve as the clinical chief of the breast service for the Department of Radiation Oncology and am a member of the Senior Leadership Team. I was recognized by Penn Medicine for clinical excellence by induction into the Academy of Master Clinicians in 2013. I have been recognized by my peers with the honor of inclusion in the 2009 - 2015 editions of America’s Top Doctors, and the 2008 – 2019 America’s Top Doctors for Cancer by Castle Connolly Medical LTD.

Description of Research Expertise

I have an academic focus limited to breast cancer. My research interests have been focused on shortening radiation courses by hypofractionation, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with concurrent boost, proton beam radiation, and cardiac effects of radiation therapy/techniques to reduce cardiac dose in breast cancer. I have published over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles and book chapters about breast cancer, radiation for early and advanced stage disease, radiation for intact breast and post-mastectomy indications, and radiation therapy techniques and side effects. I am co-chair of the Radiation Oncology breast committee with responsibility for the written board examination for the American Board of Radiology. I am a member of the NRG breast cancer committee local-regional subcommittee.
