Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Anderson is board certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He serves as the Physician Lead of the Critical Care Clinical Effectiveness Team at HUP, Physician Leader for Inpatient Pulmonary Capacity Management at HUP, and Associate Medical Director for the HUP Founders MICUs. He currently attends on critical care services at HUP including the Medical Intensive Care Units, the Critical Care Outreach and Procedure Service, and the Nocturnal Intensive Care Outreach Service. His clinical expertise include sepsis and septic shock, mechanical ventilation, acute respiratory failure, delirium, and post-intensive care syndrome.

Description of Research Expertise

Dr. Anderson's research and quality improvement efforts focus on improving ICU outcomes though a reduction in delirium, prevention of hospital acquired infections, prompt recognition and treatment of sepsis, and implementation of care pathways focused on ventilator liberation. Dr. Anderson also performs collaborative research on molecular studies of sepsis-induced cognitive dysfunction, acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute kidney injury. He is also a site co-investigator for clinical trials in critically ill patients.
