Description of Research Expertise

100 My research training was conducted jointly at Penn and the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) where I received my doctorate. My research is focused on the development of imaging systems and intelligent methods to improve breast cancer care.

1ac As an individual hailing from a country marked by economic inequality and high rates of late-stage breast cancer, I am strongly motivated to work in the field of breast cancer research. Cancer disparities fuel my determination to address the urgent need for equitable and effective interventions in cancer diagnosis. Every woman, regardless of her race and socioeconomic status, deserves timely and effective healthcare.

185 I aim to identify and address the underlying factors contributing to breast cancer, especially in racial or socio-economically disadvantaged women. By working towards bridging the gaps and empowering underrepresented populations, I aspire to contribute to a future where individuals have equal opportunities for prevention, early detection, and effective treatment of breast cancer.
