Description of Research Expertise
Jeritt Thayer’s interests focuses on the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative health information technology systems that accelerate the application of evidence into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes. Current efforts include understanding how the inclusion of contextual factors of health data (e.g. refresh rate, utility, and cost to obtain) could improve the integration of HIT systems, identification of clinical decision support (CDS) malfunctions originating from service-oriented architectures, and developing and implementing new applications that combine multiple interoperability standards, such as FHIR, SMART, CDS Hooks, and web-messaging frameworks. He has extensive expertise in database programming, software engineering, and human-centered design, and several years of experience deploying software to production clinical settings. He currently works with multiple academic and healthcare organizations to disseminate his research products into new settings, co-founded a health startup, and advises multiple healthcare companies on their EHR integration efforts. Jeritt also serves on the faculty for CHOP’s Clinical Informatics Fellowship program and provides guest lectures for courses on applied clinical informatics and health data standards.Selected Publications
