Description of Research Expertise
Director of the Difficult Airway Program at CHOP. This program focuses on improving the quality and safety of airway management by researching and implementing innovative airway techniques, equipment, and educational programs. I am leading the research arm of this group with several research studies and publications forthcoming. Recent data from the multicenter international PeDI registry housed at CHOP demonstrates a high incidence of complications and adverse events during intubation in children with difficult airways. I am leading the PeDI studies at CHOP. I will lead CHOP’s participation in a prospective multicenter comparative study examining the use of video laryngoscopy and direct laryngoscopy in infants with normal airways. The overarching goal will be to determine best practices to reduce the severe complications noted in our earlier work.Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the General Anesthesiology Division.
This program focuses on educational, quality improvement, research and community outreach efforts to improve the quality of care delivered to our patients, as well as promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our division. A key aim of this program is to provide mentorship and sponsorship to our faculty and staff, as well as community outreach.
