Description of Clinical Expertise

1. Living Kidney Donation
2. Hemodialysis management
3. Chronic Kidney Disease management

Description of Research Expertise

1. Medical Education - Involvement in all aspects of medical training at Penn School of Medicine and Penn Graduate Medical Education. Areas of expertise include novel curriculum development including enhanced multidisciplinary teaching in palliative care, critical care, and glomerular diseases. Additional efforts have focused on increasing minority trainee representation within nephrology.
2. Kidney living donor evaluation and outcomes - Expansion of non-directed donation through collaboration with the National Kidney Registry. Quality improvement efforts for more streamlined and donor-centered care approaches, leading to improved donor experience and improved efficiency of living donor evaluation processes.
3. Influence of dietary patterns and CKD management - This area of research includes the association of micronutrient content and clinical outcomes in chronic kidney disease and healthy individuals. She is interested in the clinical outcomes associated with potassium, sodium, and the ratio of these two electrolytes in terms of cardiovascular and kidney disease clinical outcomes and has published in this area.
4. Contrast associated acute kidney injury - Involvement in both scholarly activity and quality improvement of assessment and management of IV contrast nephrotoxicity.
