Description of Clinical Expertise
1d9 I am a hematopathologist and Director of the hematology laboratory at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I came to hematopathology originally because I wanted to care for critically ill patients alongside intelligent, curious clinicians in a collaborative fashion. I also enjoy interacting with our strong flow cytometrists, medical technologists, molecular pathologists, cytogeneticists, histotechs and pathology assistants, who make my work possible.8

Description of Other Expertise
142 On my first day as a lab director, I learned that our entire dayshift staff had been exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace and had to quarantine. Although no one became seriously ill, this experience framed my relationship with laboratory professionals, and highlighted their role as front line workers.8
