Description of Clinical Expertise
Dr. Elizabeth Genovese is a vascular surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where she serves as Director of the Penn Advanced Limb Preservation Program (PALP) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical expertise centers on the management of peripheral arterial disease and chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), with particular focus on complex endovascular interventions, limb salvage, and advanced wound care. She has developed specialized proficiency in below-the-knee interventions, intravascular lithotripsy for calcified lesions, deep vein arterialization, percutaneous tibiopedal access, and wire escalation strategies for chronic total occlusions. She is a recognized national educator and thought leader, with over 90 invited lectures at major vascular and endovascular conferences, and serves on multiple industry advisory boards and steering committees. Dr. Genovese is committed to building multidisciplinary, systems-based approaches to limb preservation and to training the next generation of vascular surgeons.
Description of Research Expertise
Dr. Genovese is an active clinical trialist and serves as national Principal Investigator for the Philips THOR IDE study and as co-PI for the NIH-funded Boomerang Catheter percutaneous DVA trial, among numerous other industry-sponsored device and technology investigations. Her research interests extend to health equity in PAD, with a focus on racial, socioeconomic, and geographic disparities in access to limb salvage care.Selected Publications
