Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Hoffman specializes in working with children with hearing differences. He provides integrated psychological services to through the CHOP Center for Childhood Communication, with an emphasis patient-centered, collaborative care and improving quality of life in children and adolescents. Common referral questions include questions regarding deaf identity, adjustment to hearing loss/limited device usage, family stress related to hearing loss, academic/peer difficulties, and traditional psychiatric diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, autism, and ADHD.

Description of Research Expertise

Dr. Hoffman specializes in research centered on health-related quality of life in Deaf/hard of hearing children and their families. He also conducts research on applied, clinical pathways for supporting mental health for deaf patients presenting in pediatric medical settings.
