Description of Clinical Expertise

I have specialized expertise in treatment and intervention for complex fetal conditions. I am one of few maternal fetal surgeons in the country that can perform the full scope of in-utero intervention including ultrasound guided needle procedures, operative fetoscopy, and open fetal surgery who receives referrals from across the country. Based on my clinical expertise, I have become a national leader within this niche as evidenced by invited presentations and publications as well as contribution to national society consensus statements.

Description of Research Expertise

My scientific research focus centers around using ultrasound for fetal diagnosis and management of complicated pregnancies that are amenable for fetal interventions. I also have unique experience in modeling and simulation and this provided the foundation for developing a technique for rapid prototyping for 3D printed patient-matched modeling for fetal spina bifida surgery. I have grown into an independent investigator and collaborator with both NIH funded and unfunded multiple ongoing multi-center fetal surgery focused studies. I serve as a Co-principal investigator for a NIH-funded multi-center fetal intervention trial, Co-investigator for translational research regarding stem cells for future fetal interventions, and principal investigator for an industry sponsored multi-center international trial investigating a new drug for preventing fetal anemia.
