Before moving to Mayo Clinic to assume the position of Chair of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, Robert Pignolo, MD, spent many years at Penn. His PhD thesis was in the lab of Vincent Cristofalo, the founder of the Center for the Study of Aging which is now the Institute on Aging (IOA), followed by medical school, a fellowship, and eventually his first appointment in Geriatrics at Penn Medicine.
Dr. Pignolo’s current research – which he presented during his IOA Visiting Scholar Series lecture “Old Bones and Second Skeletons” -- focuses on bone biology and understanding the mechanisms underlying skeletal aging. Learn more about his research in the video below:
