About this Workshop
Much like APOE in Alzheimer’s disease, TMEM106b is a known disease risk modifier, in particular in GRN-FTD, but in other FTLD-TDP and neurodegenerative diseases as well. While the role of TMEM106b is established in the research realm, this data has not been translated to the clinic. There are several clinical trials underway in FTD and, in particular, in genetic forms such as GRN-FTD. As we anticipate entering an era of disease-modifying therapies, we should consider all known factors that contribute to disease risk and progression. The goal of this workshop is to establish field consensus on if, what, when, and how to disclose TMEM106b status.
