Consortium on the Genetics of Schizophrenia (COGS-2)

The principal objective of this study is to examine the genetic basis of impairments in core neuropsychological and neurocognitive processes in schizophrenia patients. The assessment procedures will take place over a period of two study visits for a total of 8 hours with a rest break every 1-2 hours or as necessary. The first visit will focus on the diagnostic aspects of the study and will consist of a diagnostic interview utilizing an expanded Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV (SCID), collecting demographic and medical information, ratings on various assessment scales, a computerized neuropsychological testing battery, and a blood draw. The second visit will consist of the phenotype aspects of the study and will consist of measuring brain activity utilizing Event-Related Potential (ERP), electroencephalography, and evoked potentials (EP’s), as well as measuring eye movements using oculography. Participants will be compensated $80 in cash for completing the first visit procedures and $50 in cash for completing the second visit procedures for a total of $130. There are no more than minimal risks associated with this study.
