The History

Visit world-famous historical sites such as Independence Hall and Congress Hall, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, Elfreth’s Alley, and Christ Church and Burial Ground, all while enjoying the every-day historic architecture found all around the city.
The Sports
Philadelphians are crazy about their sports! Five professional sports teams and multiple D1 universities provide opportunities to display your team spirit year-round. Catch a game with the Phillies (MLB), the Eagles (NFL), the 76ers (NBA), the Flyers (NHL), or the Union (MLS). Philadelphia also has a number of recreational, pickup, and intramural teams, from softball to disc golf, so that you can get in on the action yourself.
The Arts
You can spend your day at a music festival or one of Philly's 20+ art museums, followed by a night at one of 20+ theaters, numerous live music venues, or outdoor movies. From world-renowned names, to up-and-coming underground artists and musicians, to community cultural celebrations, there are happening every day of the week!

The Great Outdoors
With 10,000+ acres of park space, a 30-mile paved river trail, and numerous hiking trails in and right outside the city, you don't have to travel far to enjoy the outdoors.
Our residents' favorite outdoor spots and activities: Seger dog park, Morris Arboretum (Penn’s official Arboretum and gardens, located in Chestnut Hill right off the SEPTA regional rail), Bartram's Gardens, The Woodlands Cemetary and English Garden, John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, pop-up beer gardens such as Parks on Tap, Fairmount Park, Wissahickon Valley Park, and the Schuylkill River trail.
The Affordability
Philly provides big city living for lower cost than most of its neighbor cities in the region. In addition, the city offers numerous free events, along with select free admission days to museums and other historical sites.

The Accessibility
Penn clinical sites are condensed in the Center City/University City area, making it is easy to get from place to place via walking or transit. All of our clinical sites are near SEPTA's subway, bus, and trolley lines.
The Location
Philly is in close proximity to the beach, mountains, and many other large cities, making it easy to get away for a weekend trip. If you don't feel like driving, hop on the Regional Rail, New Jersey Transit trains, Amtrak trains, PATCO trains, or Megabus and Greyhound buses for a quick getaway all within a few hours:
Baltimore ( 2hr drive or 1hr 11mins on Amtrak train), Boston (5hrs 40mins drive or 5hrs 16mins on Amtrak train), New Jersey Beaches (1hr 30mins drive or 1hr 30mins on PATCO/New Jersey Transit trains), New York City (2hr drive or 1hr30 mins on Amtrak Train), Pocono Mountains (2hr drive), and Washington DC (3hr drive or 2hrs on Amtrak train).
Our residents' favorite day-trip locations: Lancaster, PA, the Jersey Shore, the Pocono Mountains, Linvilla Orchards, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, NYC, Phoenixville, tubing on the Delaware or Great Egg Harbor Rivers in New Jersey.
