What to Expect
At ACE-WS, we offer medical, behavioral health, and therapy services for individuals of all ages, whether you’re nearby or far away. Our team collaborates with you to create a cohesive care plan tailored to your needs. We provide flexible scheduling options, including single visits, multidisciplinary visits, and coordinated care visits. We are dedicated to ensuring that patients and families have all the necessary information to prepare for their visit, helping to navigate the process for a smooth experience.
Please read the information below!
At your multidisciplinary visits
The focus of multidisciplinary visits are collaborative and cohesive services that occur on the same day and in the same location over the course of 3-4 hours. Multidisciplinary scheduling involves appointments with our lead WS physician, cardiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and psychology. Specialists will cycle in and out of your room for 1-hour appointments. If you are a caregiver of a young child, we recommend that you bring snacks and toys to help keep your little one entertained throughout your visit.

At your coordinated care visits
Coordinated care visits are beneficial for families traveling to our center from out of town and may require you to stay overnight. You will participate in a visit with one of our lead WS physicians and one or more additional physicians on the same day or over multiple days, depending on the length of your stay. You may receive calls from the various departments you are scheduling with to assist in setting up your appointments with those specialists. Depending on the specialist, your appointments may take place in different buildings across the CHOP and Penn campus. Our program coordinators will provide a detailed schedule and will meet with you to help you navigate to your appointments.

At your single visit with another specialist
For single visit appointments, our team will forward your request to the appropriate department, and you can expect a call from their coordinators to schedule your visit. Scheduling is handled by these coordinators, so please direct any cancellations, rescheduling requests, or questions specific to that provider to their clinic. You will see the provider at their usual clinic location on campus.

After your visit
At the Armellino Center of Excellence for Williams Syndrome, we believe that your care extends beyond your visit. After your appointment, our team collaborates to discuss any additional referrals you may need and to ensure that your ongoing care is well coordinated. We also send an after-visit survey to gather your feedback, which is crucial for us as we strive to enhance our services and improve your experience.
Contacting us for questions and form requests
For established patients with non-urgent medical or behavioral questions, the best way to reach us is through the myCHOP or myPennMedicine portal. You can expect a response from our team within 2-3 business days.
For forms that need to be completed by our clinical team (e.g., guardianship, school documents, clearance paperwork, etc.), please upload them to the myCHOP portal and notify our team via a myCHOP message. Kindly allow up to two weeks for our clinical team to process and complete these forms. Please note that processing time may vary depending on the complexity and volume of the paperwork.
