07/14/23

Dear Colleagues,

We wanted to make sure you are aware of an upcoming traffic change that will become effective tonight, Friday, July 14, starting at 8pm.  Please see below information, and thank you for your consideration of how this may impact your commute.

We recognize the challenges this traffic change and other such changes may present to our community, patients, and neighbors, and we will continue to explore with CHOP and the University other measures to help mitigate impact as warranted.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

UPCOMING TRAFFIC CHANGE: LONG-TERM UNIVERSITY AVE SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, NORTHBOUND

To complete utility work in support of CHOP’s New Patient Tower, there will be a single lane closure on University Ave, Northbound between the I-76 exit and Civic Center Blvd (see below diagram for further details). The single lane closure will reduce Northbound traffic to one open lane starting Friday, July 14, at 8pm, and will increase the likelihood of traffic in the area.

  • One lane of traffic will remain open Northbound.
  • I-76 commuters should consider using the South Street exit ramp.
  • Duration of closure is expected for approximately 8 months.
