Remote work guidelines as we begin the new year

12/23/21

Dear Colleagues,

In close coordination with the University and our Health System colleagues, we strongly encourage members of our PSOM community whose jobs do not require an on-site presence to work remotely and/or develop alternative schedules, with supervisor approval, to reduce our on-site workforce upon return from winter break.  For those who do need to be on campus, continue to socially distance, wear high-quality masks at all times, and avoid eating or drinking near others.

While at present we do not foresee a need to depopulate our labs to the extent similar to the beginning of the pandemic, we recommend this flexible arrangement until we see a reversal of the COVID numbers or at least until the University begins in-person classes, anticipated for January 24.

In addition and as communicated in the University message, upon initial return to campus, a new gateway test will be required for all faculty, staff, students, and post-docs.

I know this is not how any of us wanted to enter the holiday break.  We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as appropriate.  Sincerest thanks for the incredible work everyone continues to do during these unprecedented times.

My warmest regards and best wishes for the holidays,

Jon
