Candidate for BSE, Bioengineering, Materials Science and Engineering, 2007, University of Pennsylvania

Areas of Special Interest

Andrea joined the group in the Summer of 2006 to participate in a joint project between Dr. Mauck and Dr. Burdick. Her work focuses on developing nanofibrous polymer scaffolds with controlled mechanical and degradation properties that may be utilized as replacements to the knee meniscus. Specifically, investigation is targeted toward identifying optimal parameters for nanofiber formation for various potential polymers. Andrea is also examining the response and viability of meniscal fibrochondrocytes to these polymer scaffolds.
