Histology Core

Self Service Histology

Self-service projects are those performed by users, using equipment available in the core.

Self-Service Equipment

  • Paraffin microtomes
  • Cryostat microtomes
  • Plastics microtome
  • Paraffin embedding station
  • Microscopes
  • Histomorphometry workstation

Consumables

The core provides:

  • Cassettes
  • Paraffin wax
  • Cryofilm (additional fee applies)
  • Slide boxes (additional fee applies)

Users must provide their own blades, slides and cryostat chucks.

Training

The following pieces of equipment require training for new users:

  • Paraffin microtomes
  • Cryostat microtome (with optional cryofilm)
  • Plastics microtome
  • Histomorphometry workstation

All training is now conducted virtually. If you are interested in receiving training, please contact Dr Arroyo. They will email you a link to the training video for the relevant instrument type. After watching the video, send a reply email to confirm, and instrument sign up calendar access will be provided. Note that training fees (per user, per instrument type) apply.
