Multiwavelength Analytical Ultracentrifugation
With this specialized instrumentation, the migration of a molecule subjected to high centrifugal force can be monitored in real time using optical detection. The change in sample concentration relative to the axis of rotation can be used to determine fundamental solution properties of the macromolecule of interest, including size, shape, mass, equilibrium constants of association. Requires samples of the highest purity, as validated by other complementary measures.
- Beckman Optima analytical ultracentrifuge (AUC). For both sedimentation equilibrium and sedimentation velocity experiments using multiwavelength absorbance and interference optics, with temperature control. The instrument is operated by a dedicated computer.
