We study transcriptional programs that support development and function of lymphocytes. A recent focus is understanding progenitor-successor relationships among thymic epithelial cells, that constitute the essential microenvironmental niches for developing T cells. These studies will help with an understanding how the thymus is maintained, and whether thymic involution underlies immune dysregulation during aging. Another recent focus is understanding niche signals in the bone marrow for long-lived plasma cells. These studies are a collaborative project with David Allman and Masaki Ishikawa at the University of Pennsylvania.
