As part of the nation’s first school of medicine, established in 1765, the Department of Psychiatry at Penn has a rich history, extending back over two centuries

The mission of the Department of Psychiatry Office of Education is to deliver excellence in psychiatric education across the full continuum of medical and scientific training—from medical school through residency, and clinical and research fellowships. The Department is dedicated to preparing future leaders in psychiatry while also advancing the education of the public and other health professionals in the understanding and treatment of psychiatric disorders. To support this mission, the Department sponsors a comprehensive portfolio of educational programs, including undergraduate education, undergraduate medical education, residency and clinical fellowship training, graduate (Ph.D.) education, postdoctoral research fellowships, continuing medical education, and public outreach.
