Max Stern

Max Stern (he/him) is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, having earned his Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2021 from the Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP) in Boston, MA.  Prior to pursuing graduate training Max worked as a case manager - facilitating chronically unhoused individuals find homes around Philadelphia. Max continued his passion for community-based work while at the MGH IHP, completing his clinical rotations at the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Project and the South End Community Health Center. While pursuing his MSN, Max worked as a registered nurse on the Short Term Unit at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA; where he facilitated patients in overcoming crisis and developing new coping skills. Max’s combined experiences in community and inpatient settings have fostered a collaborative clinical style, one that values shared decision making with clients. Additionally, Max works to explore the range of contributors to mental health disorders, including social determinants (eg housing, access to health care, experience of racism), medical diagnoses, social and family history to guide selection of appropriate psychopharmacological and behavioral treatment regimens.  In his free time Max enjoys biking, camping, and reading.
