Virtual Thesis Committee Meetings
For more information, you can also refer to the Penn Library's Guide for Zoom. Included is a FAQ section which includes system requirement needs and troubleshooting. Please note that since you're part of the School of Medicine, the sign-in link for your zoom account is https://pennmedicine.zoom.us.
Setting up and Scheduling a Virtual Thesis Committee Meeting
- Schedule a date/time with your advisor and thesis committee as usual.
- Once you have a date/time for a meeting, navigate to https://pennmedicine.zoom.us and Sign In. You will be redirected to a page to sign in with your Pennkey and password.
- Once on the main Zoom dashboard, click “Meetings” on the left side menu
- Click "Schedule a Meeting"
- Create a Meeting Title. Example: Thesis Committee Meeting: Smith,Jane
- Schedule the meeting for the date and time block agreed upon by your committee. Plan for a 2 hour time block.
- Zoom requires that meetings either have a waiting room enabled, or a passcode.
- Confirm by clicking “Save”
- To view the virtual meeting information, click on "copy invitation".
Starting / Joining your Meeting
- When the time comes for your Zoom Thesis Committee Meeting, navigate to the Zoom Meetings page using the same steps as above.
- Hover over your scheduled Thesis Committee Meeting with your mouse, and then click the blue “Start” button.
