Levels of Analysis

  • Context for communication factors, processes and outcomes are provided by four levels of analysis:
    • Individual - e.g. we may study how a person processes information about health and converts it to action.
    • Interpersonal (dyadic) level - e.g. we may examine how two people interact and influence one another relevant to health behaviors
    • Organizational - e.g. we may examine how communication among many people influence health behavior change including the effect on delivery of a health-related service.
    • Community, society or culture - e.g. we may examine how communication contributes to health behavior change within the constraints of social structure
