Faculty Search Advisors (FSAs) and Search Committee Chairs each hold unique roles in ensuring that faculty search processes are fair, open, and conducted in compliance with University policies and guidelines, including certifying at the conclusion of each search using the Faculty Search Report Form.  A full description of the FSA role can be found in the Faculty Search Advisors, Roles and Responsibilities Memorandum [University of Pennsylvania, Office of the Provost]. Search Committee Chairs and FSAs should work closely with Faculty Coordinators throughout the process to ensure FCs, as the administrative managers of the search, receive all necessary search documentation to properly document the selection process in Interfolio Faculty Search.

  • National and Limited Search Guidelines
  • Search Waivers: Under certain circumstances a department may be eligible to request a waiver from a search. These are typically rare and must meet certain guidelines. Departments interested in pursuing a waiver should contact Kim Haebel in OAA khaebel@upenn.edu to discuss the process and the circumstances.
